Abstract
Prices of agricultural production supplies in Japan are divided into items such as seeds and seedlings, rent, fees, fertilizer, and agricultural chemicals. According to data from December 2022, cucumber seeds (f120ml) can cost up to 8,510 yen. This is an important part of agricultural production, and prices fluctuate depending on the balance of supply and demand and advances in production technology. Considering historical trends, changes in climatic conditions and agricultural policies have influenced prices. Equally important are the prices of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers, which directly affect crop growth and yields. Because the prices of agricultural production inputs affect the productivity and sustainability of the agricultural industry as a whole, efforts by governments and industry groups are important.
General agricultural production materials (seeds and seedlings)
Considering the data on the prices of general seeds and seedlings for agricultural production materials in Japan from January 2020 to December 2022, we can see that cucumber seeds (f120ml) recorded the highest price of 8,550 yen. However, current prices have fallen to 99.5% of their peak. This trend is due to changes in supply and demand in the agricultural market, with fluctuations in demand in particular affecting prices. Advances in agricultural technology and improved varieties also contribute to price fluctuations. Prices of agricultural production inputs have a significant impact on the profitability and sustainability of the entire agricultural industry, so fluctuations in these prices are important factors in agricultural management.

General agricultural production materials (rent and fees)
Looking at data from January 2020 to December 2022, the prices of general rental and fees for agricultural production materials in Japan were highest at 20,100 yen for rice harvesting fees (using a combine harvester, 10a using a combine harvester, no brand grade). However, current prices have fallen to 99.7% of their peak. This trend is likely driven by more efficient agricultural management and technological advances. In particular, the spread and improvement of agricultural machinery has made it possible to save labor and time, and it is interpreted that this has led to a decrease in rental fees and charges such as rice harvesting fees. Such trends have the potential to contribute to improved agricultural productivity and sustainable management.

General agricultural production materials (agricultural chemicals)
In January 2020, the agricultural chemical prices for agricultural production materials in Japan recorded the highest price of 27,800 yen for insecticides (chloropicrin fumigation, 20L of 80% chloropicrin), and this is also the highest price currently. This is thought to be due to the need for and increasing demand for pest control. In Japanese agriculture, agricultural chemicals are essential to protect crops from pests and diseases, and demand fluctuates depending on the season and region. Fluctuations in the price of agricultural chemicals are an important factor that directly affects agricultural production costs and farmers’ profits. In addition, since the use of agricultural chemicals requires consideration of their impact on the environment, price fluctuations are also influenced by environmental regulations and technological advances. Therefore, properly understanding price trends of agricultural chemicals and using them effectively is important for sustainable agricultural management.
