Global vegetable production is diverse and includes leafy vegetables (e.g. lettuce, cabbage) and fruit vegetables (e.g. tomatoes, eggplants). The main producing countries are China, India, the United States and Turkey, with China in particular boasting the largest production volume. These vegetables are highly nutritious and are an essential part of our diet. Production depends on climatic conditions, and it thrives in warm regions. Technological innovation and the spread of greenhouse cultivation have made it possible to ensure a stable supply throughout the year. The introduction of sustainable agricultural techniques is also progressing, allowing production volumes to be maintained while reducing the burden on the environment.
