Abstract
”Hyd” is an agricultural by-product, usually harvested from certain plants. As per the 2022 data, India recorded the highest hyde production at 959kt, which is a key indicator in the international hyde market. Over the past few decades, India has introduced many technological innovations to improve productivity in the agricultural sector. In particular, the selection of crops suited to the climate and the adoption of efficient irrigation techniques have contributed to increased production in Hyde. The increase in India’s hyd production can also be attributed to growing domestic and international demand and improved agricultural policies. Compared to other major producing countries, India’s hide production is overwhelming, which makes India more competitive in the market.
Hyde production (worldwide)
Looking at the trend in Hyde production based on data from 1961 to 2022, India recorded 959kt in 2022, the highest overall. The figure indicates that India’s hide production has reached 100% of its peak and reflects the evolution of agricultural techniques and production systems in the country. Over the past few decades, India has focused on improving efficiency and productivity in the agricultural sector. In particular, improved varieties and the introduction of highly efficient irrigation techniques have contributed to an increase in hide production. Supportive government policies and improved agricultural infrastructure also play a major role in increasing production. From the 1960s to the early 2000s, India’s hide production grew relatively slowly, but has increased rapidly since the late 2000s. This growth is thought to be largely due to increasing demand both domestically and internationally, as well as technological innovation. Globally, India’s hyde production is far greater than any other country and has established itself as a significant player in the international market. Advances in agricultural technology in India and fluctuations in market demand are expected to continue to affect production volumes.

Hyde production (latest year, worldwide)
According to 2022 data, global production of the crop hyde reached 1.41 Mt. Of this, India was the largest producer with 959kt, accounting for about 68% of the total global production. In contrast, the average production was 50.2kt, showing that India’s production stands out. Looking at trends over the past few decades, hyde production has been gradually increasing, with growth in India being particularly notable. Between the 1960s and 2020s, India significantly improved productivity through innovative agricultural techniques, improved crop varieties, and the introduction of highly efficient irrigation systems. This has established India as a leader in hide production. Compared to other countries, India’s production is by far the highest, with most producing countries operating on a relatively small scale. As a result, the global hyde market is heavily dependent on Indian production, and India’s agricultural policies and weather conditions have a significant impact on the market. Overall, the concentration of most hide production in India is a key factor in international market trends. It will remain to be seen how India’s technological innovation and production management will impact global hide supplies.

Skin production volume (worldwide)
Data for 2022 shows that crop skins production will reach a record high of 504kt in China, the highest volume in the entire world. China’s production in this field has reached its peak, highlighting its high production capacity. Looking at the trends over the past few decades, China’s skin production has been steadily increasing. Especially since the 2000s, advances in agricultural technology and efficient production management have led to a rapid increase in skin production. The Chinese government’s supportive policies and the development of agricultural infrastructure have also contributed greatly to the increase in production. Additionally, China’s growing skin production is playing an important role both to meet growing domestic demand and to cater to export markets. Skins have a variety of uses and are in high demand, especially in industrial and food processing industries, so China is increasing its production to become more competitive in the market. Internationally, China’s skin production far exceeds that of other major producing countries, and the country has established itself as an important player in the global market. This situation is a reflection of the results of China’s agricultural policies and technological innovation, and production adjustments will likely continue in the future in response to market trends and international competition.

Skin production volume (latest year, by country)
According to 2022 data, global production of crop skins reached 1.25 Mt, with China recording 498 kt as the largest producer. This figure shows that China has a huge share in skin production. The average production was 8.47kt, clearly highlighting China’s dominance in production. Looking at historical trends, China’s skin production has grown rapidly in recent years, with particularly notable growth since the 2000s. This is due in large part to advances in agricultural technology, the introduction of efficient production methods, and supportive government policies. In addition, China’s vast farmland and climatic conditions are ideal for skin production, ensuring a stable supply. On the other hand, compared with other producing countries, China’s skin production is overwhelmingly high, strengthening its competitiveness in the international market. Due to China’s large share of total production, the global skin market is highly dependent on Chinese production trends. Therefore, changes in China’s agricultural policies and international demand are expected to have a significant impact on skin prices and supply.
