Abstract
The production of fruits in global agriculture is characterized by the overwhelming presence of China. According to the latest data for 2022, China’s fruit production has reached 263 Mt, accounting for a significant portion of the world’s fruit production. Due to its climatic conditions and the development of agricultural technology, China produces a wide variety of fruits, such as apples and bananas, on a large scale. Meanwhile, other countries are also active in fruit production, including Brazil and Ecuador in South America, India and Thailand in Asia, and South Africa in Africa. These countries specialize in the production of certain fruits due to factors such as climatic conditions, land use, and agricultural policies. In addition, with the increase in global demand, sustainable agriculture and technological innovation are becoming increasingly important. Based on past trends, global fruit production, especially in China, is on the rise, and quality improvement and efficiency are essential for each country to increase its competitiveness.
Fruit production (worldwide)
Fruit production in global agriculture has grown significantly over the past few decades. Particularly noteworthy is China’s contribution, and data from 1961 to 2022 reveals that China is the overwhelming fruit producer. Compared to 100% at its peak, China’s current production has stabilized, but the amount still far exceeds other countries. During this period, fruit production in countries around the world has been on the rise, which is due to technological advances, improvements in agricultural infrastructure, and market expansion. In particular, in areas with suitable climatic conditions, Brazil, India, Ecuador, and other countries stand out as bases for fruit production. On the other hand, there are also impacts from environmental changes and weather abnormalities, and issues regarding the sustainability of agriculture have emerged. Under these circumstances, innovation in agricultural technology and promotion of sustainable agriculture are important. While the increase in global fruit production contributes to global food security, the environmental burden and social impact of agriculture must also be taken into account. In the future, the construction of sustainable agricultural systems and international cooperation are essential, and balanced development of fruit production is required.

Fruit production (latest year, world)
China has a dominant presence in the production of agricultural fruits in world agriculture in 2022. China’s astounding production of 263 Mt accounts for about 28% of the world total of 935 Mt. This also shows that China plays a central role in global fruit production. On the other hand, the world average production is 4.82 Mt, which shows that countries around the world produce fruits taking advantage of diverse climatic conditions and agricultural techniques. Behind this figure are areas where each country excels in certain fruits, such as bananas in Brazil and apples in the United States. In addition, global fruit production has been increasing sustainably, partly due to increasing demand due to population growth and economic growth. On the other hand, concerns about climate change and agricultural sustainability are also growing, making it a challenge to balance increased production with environmental protection. In the future, technological innovation and the spread of sustainable agricultural practices will be important. Global fruit production is essential for food security and economic development, and international cooperation and continued efforts are required.

Fruit production (continent)
Asia has a dominant presence in the production of agricultural fruits in 2022. The figure of 545 Mt far exceeds the total global fruit production, indicating that Asia is the center of global fruit production. Populous countries such as China and India have contributed greatly to this rapid increase. Meanwhile, fruit production is also becoming more active in other regions, with production increases also being seen in South America and Africa. This is due to the optimization of climatic conditions, advances in agricultural technology, and market expansion. In addition, the increase in global demand for fruit is also driving this trend. As demand increases, emphasis is being placed on improving quality and ensuring stable supply. In addition, efforts to spread sustainable agricultural practices and protect the environment are also attracting attention. Based on past trends, it is expected that global fruit production will continue to expand, especially in Asia. However, there are also risks such as climate change and natural disasters, and efforts are being called for to address these challenges. Global fruit production plays an important role in food security and economic growth, while also becoming increasingly important from the perspective of sustainable development.

Fruit production (latest year, continent)
Asia will dominate the agricultural fruit production in 2022. Asia’s 545Mt figure represents roughly half of the world’s total fruit production, highlighting Asia’s position as the world’s fruit production center. This large-scale production is supported by a strong agricultural base in Asian countries, including China and India. Fruit production is not limited to Asia, but is also thriving in other regions, with production increasing in South America and Africa. This is driven by factors such as the optimization of climatic conditions, advances in agricultural technology, and market expansion. The increase in global demand for fruit is also driving this trend. As demand increases, there is a demand for improved quality and the introduction of sustainable production methods. At the same time, measures to combat environmental burdens and climate change in agriculture are also being considered. Based on past trends, global fruit production is expected to continue to expand, especially in Asia, but efforts toward sustainable development are an urgent issue. While global fruit production is essential for food security and economic growth, it should be carried out in harmony with the global environment, and international cooperation is essential.
