Vegetable production in Japanese agriculture fluctuates from year to year due to changes in demand and climatic conditions. In general, production of greenhouse and institutional vegetables is increasing, and cultivation utilizing advanced technology is progressing. In addition, new production methods such as suburban agriculture and rooftop farms are attracting attention in order to meet demand in urban areas. However, there are also challenges such as the decrease in farmland and the aging of farmers. To address these challenges, the government is reviewing agricultural policies and providing support to farmers.
