In Japanese agriculture, most rice farms are run individually and are often family-run. In terms of rice cultivation scale, there are many small-scale farms, with cultivated areas ranging from a few ares to several hectares. Small-scale farmers rely mainly on their own labor and cultivate crops suited to the local climate and soil conditions, while large-scale farmers pursue mechanization and efficient management. In recent years, there has been a trend toward expansion and incorporation, but small-scale operations still account for the majority.
