The characteristics of vegetable farming management in Japanese agriculture vary from region to region. For example, in Hokkaido, vegetables suitable for cool climates such as potatoes and carrots are produced, and there is a tendency to place emphasis on yield. On the other hand, in Kyushu, there are many vegetables that are suited to warm climates, such as tomatoes and cucumbers, so quality and early shipping are important. In individual farming, the success of the business is directly linked to the farmer’s technical capabilities, production costs, and access to markets. In addition, differences in climatic conditions and soil in each region greatly affect crop growth and quality.
