The cultivated area in Japanese agriculture varies greatly depending on the characteristics of each region and the management style. Hokkaido makes use of its vast farmland to cultivate vegetables on a large scale. On the other hand, in the suburbs of cities in the Kanto and Kansai regions, there is a tendency to selectively cultivate high-profit crops on limited farmland. In individual farming, many of which are family-run, efficient crop planning and the introduction of mechanization are the keys to increasing profits. Additionally, selection of crops according to the climate and soil conditions of each region is important for effective use of cultivated land.
