Floriculture management in Japanese agriculture has its own unique characteristics in each region. In Hokkaido, tulips and lilies are the main crops, taking advantage of the cool climate. Suburban agriculture is popular in the Kanto region, and large-scale production of roses and chrysanthemums can be seen. In the Chubu region, alstroemeria and lilies are widely cultivated, taking advantage of the highland areas. Taking advantage of the Kyushu region’s warm climate, carnations and orchids are thriving. A wide variety of flower crops are cultivated in accordance with the climatic conditions and market needs of each region.
