The Tohoku region is dominated by rice farming, with many farms being individually run. Suburban agriculture is thriving in the Kanto region, where a wide variety of vegetables and fruits are grown. In the Chubu region, highland vegetables are the main crop, and lettuce and cabbage in particular are grown in Nagano Prefecture. Kyushu is a region where a wide variety of vegetables are grown, taking advantage of the region’s warm climate, and farming is characterized by its management adapted to the local climate and topography.
