According to data on annual agricultural harvests in the United States, corn and soybeans are the most productive, boasting world-class production volumes. Corn is mainly used for animal feed and bioethanol, while soybeans are processed into edible oil and animal feed. Wheat is also a major crop and is widely used in foods such as bread and pasta. Yields are affected by weather, pests, technological advances and agricultural policies. For example, droughts and floods can greatly affect crop yields. The spread of genetically modified crops has also contributed to high yields.
