Global tomato production is increasing year by year, with China being the largest producer. Other major producers include India, Turkey, the United States and Egypt. Tomatoes are widely used for both processing and eating and are grown in a wide variety of climatic conditions. Recently, there has been a lot of attention being paid to sustainable cultivation and quality improvement, and the use of genetically modified crops is also being discussed.
