Abstract
Oat production shows a stable trend globally. Canada is the largest producer, achieving an impressive figure of 5.23 Mt in 2022. This figure can be attributed to Canada’s rich agricultural resources and advanced agricultural techniques. Meanwhile, other major producing countries also maintain stable harvests. Oats are mainly cultivated in cold regions such as North America and Europe due to their cold resistance and high nutritional value. In addition, with the growing health consciousness, the demand for oats as a grain is increasing, so production is expected to increase. With the increasing importance of environmental considerations and sustainable agriculture, more sustainable efforts are being called for in oat cultivation methods and production processes.
Oat production (worldwide)
Oat production has fluctuated over the past few decades. In 1962, the United States achieved a record production of 14.7 Mt, but since then, there have been fluctuations. The current production in the United States has fallen to 5.7% of its peak. This change can be attributed to a variety of factors, including changes in the structure of agriculture, changes in market demand, and changes in climatic conditions. On the other hand, other countries also play an important role in oat production. Canada, in particular, has recently become one of the largest producers. Demand for oats has been influenced by an increasing health consciousness and changes in the food industry, which may lead to fluctuations in production. In addition, the growing interest in sustainable agriculture has also influenced production methods and cultivation techniques. Considering these factors, further fluctuations in future oat production are expected, but stability of demand and efforts toward sustainability will be important.

Oat production by country (latest year)
As of 2022, Canada has the largest share of oat production in the market with 5.23 Mt. The overall average production is 326 kt, reaching a total of 26.4 Mt. From these figures, oat production shows a stable trend globally. Canada’s high production is backed by the country’s abundant agricultural resources and advanced agricultural technology. Meanwhile, other major producing countries are also actively contributing to the market and meeting the demand for oats. The oat market is influenced by factors such as increasing health consciousness and changes in the food industry. In particular, the demand for oats as a health food is increasing due to its high nutritional value, which has led to the expansion of the market. In addition, increasing interest in sustainable agriculture is also influencing the improvement of oat production methods and cultivation techniques. Efforts to ensure stability of demand and sustainability will continue to be important, and the oat market is expected to grow in the future.

Oat production (continent)
Oat production has fluctuated over the past decades. In 1985, Europe achieved an impressive production of 33.3 Mt, but since then there have been fluctuations. Current production in Europe has fallen to 42.9% of its peak. This change is likely due to multiple factors, including changes in agricultural policies, changes in market demand, and the impact of climatic conditions. In particular, changes in the production structure may have occurred with the reform of agricultural policies and the expansion of the EU. On the other hand, other regions also play an important role in oat production. Examples include North America and Oceania. Demand for oats is influenced by increasing health consciousness and changes in the food industry, which may lead to fluctuations in production. In addition, increasing interest in sustainable agriculture is also affecting production methods and cultivation techniques. Considering these factors, further fluctuations in future oat production are expected, but the stability of demand and efforts toward sustainability will be important.

Oat production (latest year, continental)
Globally, oat production shows a stable trend. According to data for 2022, Europe holds the largest share with 14.3 Mt. The average production is 4.38 Mt, reaching a total of 26.3 Mt. This data shows that Europe plays a major role in oat production. Europe’s high production is supported by the region’s abundant agricultural resources and technological development. Meanwhile, other regions are also actively participating in oat production to meet the demand throughout the world. Oats are widely consumed around the world due to their high nutritional value and diverse uses. Due to the growing health consciousness and changes in the food industry, the demand for oats is increasing, which has led to the maintenance and growth of production. In addition, with the increasing interest in sustainable agriculture, there is a demand for improvements in oat production methods and cultivation techniques. Considering these factors, increasing demand and sustainability efforts will affect oat production in the future.
