China is the overwhelming leader in plum production in global agriculture, with production reaching 6.76 Mt in 2022. This shows that China is the major producer of plums. Meanwhile, other countries have relatively small production volumes and are often second only to China. As a trend to date, plum production tends to be influenced by climatic conditions and advances in agricultural technology, with large countries such as China accounting for the majority of production. In addition, plums are in demand as processed and fresh products, and occupy an important position not only for domestic consumption but also in the export market. It is expected that plum production centered on China will continue to be a major trend in the future.
