Abstract
The importance of grain production in global agriculture is highlighted by China’s record high of 635 Mt in 2022. Over the past few decades, grain production in countries around the world has expanded rapidly and plays a key role in food supply. This growth is due to technological innovation and advances in agricultural practices, with agricultural productivity particularly notable in countries like China. However, grain production faces many challenges due to factors such as climate change and changes in land use. In addition, food demand is constantly increasing due to population growth and urbanization. For this reason, it is essential to build sustainable agricultural systems and promote technological innovation. Although global grain production has different trends and characteristics in each region, international cooperation to ensure a sustainable food supply is important.
Grain production (worldwide)
China’s rapid growth in global agricultural grain production has been remarkable, especially in the recent record year of 2022, when it achieved a record figure of 635 Mt. This represents a 100% increase in production compared to the previous peak. China’s agriculture has developed rapidly over the past few decades, supported by technological innovations and changes in agricultural policies. However, this rapid growth has also come with challenges, such as environmental pressures and changes in land use. Other regions have different growth rates and characteristics in grain production. Some regions have seen increased production due to productivity improvements and the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, while other regions may experience limited production due to climate change and land use constraints. Based on past trends, global agriculture places great importance on sustainable productivity improvements and stabilization of food supply.

Grain production (latest year, countries around the world)
China achieved a record 635Mt in 2022 as the world’s agricultural grain production volume. This figure is significantly higher than the overall average of 17.1Mt, reaching a total of 3.06gt. This data highlights the importance of grain production in world agriculture. Following trends over the past few decades, countries around the world have focused on agricultural technological innovation and productivity improvement to expand grain production. In particular, in emerging countries such as China, food demand is increasing along with rapid economic growth, and grain production plays an important role. On the other hand, challenges such as climate change and changes in land use still exist, calling for the creation of a sustainable agricultural system. Although global agriculture has different characteristics in each region, international cooperation is important toward the common goal of stabilizing food supply and eradicating hunger.

Grain production (continent)
In global agriculture, Asia achieved a record 1.48gt in crop cereal production in 2022. This is the highest overall and indicates that the current value is the highest ever. This achievement highlights the importance and growth of agriculture in the Asian region. In Asia, food demand is increasing due to rapid population and economic growth. Therefore, improving agricultural productivity and food security are becoming increasingly important. In addition, production is increasing due to technological innovation and improved agricultural policies. On the other hand, threats such as climate change and natural disasters still exist, calling for the creation of sustainable agricultural systems. Against this background, international cooperation and the promotion of sustainable agriculture are becoming important in various regions of the world, including Asia, with the aim of stabilizing food supplies and eradicating hunger.

Grain production (latest year, continent)
In world agriculture, Asia achieved an astounding 1.48gt in 2022 for crop grain production. This record-breaking figure shows that Asia is a major player in world agriculture. Asia is a region with a large population and high food demand, which is why grain production is extremely important. The average production is 510Mt, which accounts for a significant part of world agricultural production. On the other hand, this achievement is supported by technological innovation and improved agricultural policies. In particular, large countries such as China and India have been working to improve agricultural productivity and increase grain production. However, challenges such as climate change and environmental issues still exist, and the creation of a sustainable agricultural system is an urgent task. Based on past trends, international cooperation is becoming increasingly important in world agriculture toward goals such as stabilizing food supply and eradicating hunger.
